CIFF Shanghai | Discover the Future of Chinese Original Design at Design Eden

As competition driven solely by price begins to give way, design and quality are emerging as the industry's new competitive edge. As the flagship destination for original design at CIFF Shanghai, Design Eden brings together leading commercial design brands including CAMERICH, HC28 maison, COOMO, HIK & VEIJ, COSMO MOBILI, YINZHUO, Carbine, TREASURE, Notting Hill, Tikahome, Zhinei, AB2 GALLERY and HOOSH. Through immersive spatial installations, the exhibition brings five key design trends to life—modularity, CMF, sustainability, artistic expression and integrated furnishing solutions—offering visitors a clear perspective on where the industry is heading and the ideas shaping the products behind it.

Trend 1: The Rise of Modular Furniture—Adapting to Sustainability and Dynamic Living

At Design Eden, HC28 maison presents its SPACE customisation system, seamlessly integrating walls, cabinetry and freestanding furniture through modular components. From minimalist storage solutions to cohesive whole-home interiors, it offers greater flexibility in creating personalised living environments. Meanwhile, HIK & VEIJ introduces its latest design, the Cube Sofa, taking modular living to a new level. Its movable modules can be freely rearranged to transform living rooms, home offices and lounge areas with ease. Whether maximising flexibility in compact homes or defining functional zones in larger spaces, the system adapts effortlessly to the evolving needs of modern families.

Trend 2: CMF Materials Competition Intensifies—Where Quality Defines the Brand Gap

Carbine showcases its expertise in premium upholstery materials, featuring fabrics that are exceptionally soft, durable and rich in colour, bringing warmth and refinement to contemporary furniture. This year, TREASURE presents its signature Yuhua Chair, inspired by the elegant display of a peacock's tail. Crafted with a technically demanding curved solid-wood structure, its front and rear legs sweep upward like unfolding wings, meeting at the backrest to create a sculptural spine. Available in carefully selected walnut and other premium hardwoods, paired with leather or textile upholstery, the chair achieves a harmonious balance of visual lightness and structural stability.

COSMO MOBILI introduces the Virgil Collection, distinguished by its bold combinations of lacquer finishes and upholstery. Carefully coordinated colours and materials create rich visual depth as light shifts across each surface. Tikahome presents its latest Moon Curve Chair, inspired by the Eastern concept of harmony and completeness. Crafted with a gracefully bent solid-wood frame, its crescent-like silhouette is complemented by seamlessly integrated upholstered cushions and backrest, offering ergonomic support while balancing contemporary simplicity with the warmth of traditional craftsmanship. Meanwhile, the HOTLINE Design Creators' Joint Exhibition continues to push the boundaries of material experimentation, exploring unconventional applications for furniture design through works that blur the line between functional objects and material art.

Trend 3: Sustainable Circular Design—Greening the Entire Value Chain

CAMERICH, in collaboration with Frank Chou, presents the modular X System, which transforms a modular exhibition installation into a flexible spatial system comprising bookshelves, wall structures, partitions and movable furniture. Designed with market-ready materials and proportions, the system demonstrates how modular concepts can evolve into practical, commercially viable and scalable solutions for everyday living. The Design Gravity Field 2025 installation is itself constructed from reusable modular materials that can be dismantled and reassembled, putting circular design into practice while offering visitors a tangible experience of sustainable exhibition design.

Trend 4: Layered Artistic Value—Forging an Authentic Design Language

At Design Eden, COOMO presents the Swan Chair, whose elegant curves echo the graceful posture of a swan, translating the beauty of nature into a sculptural seating design that is as comfortable as it is expressive. This year, YINZHUO introduces the Pinsu Outdoor Collection, extending its philosophy of subtle refinement into outdoor living. Inspired by the upright lines that emerge from the organic rhythms of nature, the collection combines premium teak and metal to create outdoor furniture that feels light yet reassuringly solid. High-quality teak not only enriches the tactile character of each piece but also enhances durability for long-term outdoor use.
