The name FORPHOR takes the first and last letters of the phrase “fortune metaphor.” By combining contemporary knitting techniques with modern design aesthetics, we weave traditional Chinese patterns imbued with auspicious meanings into everyday objects, creating visual metaphors for the life we aspire to. FORPHOR Design Studio was founded in Shanghai, China. Through internationally leading contemporary knitting techniques and a regenerative design philosophy, the studio creates a series of visual interpretations of traditional Chinese patterns. It seeks to give traditional Chinese aesthetics a new contemporary identity, awaken dormant cultural spirits, and bring them back into everyday life. Revival, return, and reintegration into our daily lives together form the “FORPHOR” vision.
