China International Furniture Expo has learned that cross-border export competition continues to intensify, with robust supply chain systems and mature localized operational capabilities becoming the core competitive advantages for foreign trade merchants to capture market share and widen performance gaps.

Recently, sustained high temperatures across Europe have triggered a dramatic surge in home appliance demand. Air conditioner inventory has completely sold out, and overseas buyers have flocked to cross-border platforms to place bulk orders for electric fans, driving a sharp spike in orders for small cooling appliances.

According to the latest June B2B procurement data from Alibaba International, even the Nordic region, located at high latitudes with a mild climate, has seen explosive growth in demand for cooling appliances. Fan orders from Sweden have skyrocketed by 375% year-over-year, while orders from Belgium, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, and several other European countries have all achieved substantial growth, with overall market performance far exceeding traditional perceptions of high-temperature regions. This B2B bulk procurement data, distinct from scattered retail orders, indicates that overseas distributors are conducting advance seasonal stockpiling, representing a genuine signal of long-term demand upgrading.

The data shows that among eight core European markets, six countries have seen fan order growth rates comprehensively surpass those of air conditioners. Previously overlooked Central and Northern European markets have become the main growth drivers, completely shattering the entrenched belief that only high-temperature Southern Europe requires cooling appliances. This also means that the European cooling consumer goods market has undergone a structural demand shift, transitioning from temporary emergency consumption to normalized seasonal stockpiling.

The dominance of fans over air conditioners in the European market is not merely due to weather conditions, but rather an inevitable result of local living environments and consumer costs. Europe has a large number of old residential buildings and heritage-protected structures, where renovation and air conditioning installation approval processes are cumbersome. Most renters are unable to install fixed air conditioners, making plug-and-play portable fans that require no modification perfectly suited to local living conditions.

Meanwhile, labor costs for home appliance installation in Europe are exorbitant, with the installation fee for a single air conditioner far exceeding the price of the unit itself, strongly deterring ordinary consumers. Coupled with persistently high local electricity prices, the high energy consumption and usage costs of air conditioners make fans, with their low power consumption, light weight, and outstanding cost-effectiveness, a better fit for daily European household needs and the preferred cooling choice for the general public.

Relevant platform data confirms the importance of local warehouses. During this year's 618 shopping festival, the proportion of orders shipped from local warehouses in core European markets exceeded 50% for the first time, with transaction volume officially surpassing the traditional cross-border direct shipping model. Cainiao European warehouse data shows that mobile air conditioner outbound orders this summer have surged by nearly 18 times year-over-year, demonstrating the enormous market gap for overseas small cooling appliances.

Front-loaded supply chain deployment is the core key to cross-border sales explosions. Pre-stocking in overseas local warehouses is the optimal solution for responding to overseas seasonal surges and avoiding logistics delays. Beyond this, merchants can leverage cross-border platform AI business tools to mine market trends, capture potential bestsellers, and rely on data-driven operations to precisely align with overseas demand and efficiently fulfill customer orders.

In fact, the European fan buying frenzy is not a short-term weather event, but rather a long-term structural demand shaped by local housing structures, high electricity prices, and living habits. For cross-border foreign trade practitioners, only by closely monitoring platform procurement data, precisely screening suitable product categories, and pre-deploying overseas inventory can they seize each seasonal opportunity, achieve stable sales explosions, and sustain long-term operations.
